Library Page (Part-Time)

The Library Page is, under immediate supervision, responsible for shelving and retrieving books and other materials and assisting other library staff as directed.
Compensation:                      Minimum Wage
Hours/Schedule:                    10 – 20 hours per week, evenings and weekends
Number of Positions:            1

Essential Duties:

  1. Sort and shelve library materials in a precise and timely manner, in alphabetical and numerical order, according to the Library’s classification system.
  2. Maintain the shelves, material racks and displays by regularly checking the accuracy and neatness of the materials.
  3. Mark and package discarded books.
  4. Filing miscellaneous paperwork as directed.
  5. Assist library staff with programs and displays.
  6. Assist patrons in finding library materials and services.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and public with tact, courtesy, and a friendly attitude.
  2. Ability to understand and perform routine library procedures.
  3. Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions.
  4. Ability to communicate questions, ideas and information.
  5. Ability to work independently or in a team of library staff.
  6. Ability to sort effectively both numerically and alphabetically, according to the Dewey Decimal System.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Must be at least 16 years of age and eligible for a work permit.
  2. At least one full year of high school education is required.
  3. Availability to work evening and weekend hours.

Physical Demands

  1. Frequent standing or walking; occasional balancing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and reaching.
  2. Frequent lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
  3. Occasional pushing and pulling objects up to 80 pounds.

Circulation Aide/Circulation Assistant (Part-Time)

The Library Circulation Aide/Assistant is, under immediate supervision, responsible for assisting patrons.

Compensation:                       $15.00/hour
Hours/Schedule:                     15 – 29 hours per week, evenings and weekends
Number of Positions:              1
Posting Period:                       Until Filled

Essential Duties:

  1. Assist patrons at the Circulation Desk.
  2. Register and/or renew patrons’ library cards.
  3. Assist patrons with computer questions.
  4. Assist patrons with guest (computer) passes.
  5. Assist patrons over the phone.
  6. Assist with programs as needed.
  7. Shelve books in assigned range and review library materials to be sure they are in the proper order on shelves.
  8. Work evenings and Saturdays as assigned.
  9. Assist with special projects as needed.
