Welcome to 100 Books in a Year!

The Allen Park Public Library is offering adults ages 18 and up a challenge to read 100 books in one calendar year, from January 2 to December 30.

Here’s how it works:

Grab some books! Record the titles and give each one a rating on the reading logs provided once you register. You can join at any time during the year, but only titles completed and logged before December 30 count towards your total.

All books are eligible to count towards your total! Log your hardcovers, paperbacks, audiobooks, graphic novels, e-books, library-owned or personal copies (magazines and individual comic book issues do not count). Titles can only be counted once per year, but feel free to re-read your favorites as often as you would like.

For every 10 books you read, stop at the Circulation Desk for a sticker to add to your reading log and our wall display. You’ll also get an entry into our yearly grand prize drawing and a FREE book that’s yours to keep! The grand prize drawings will take place the second week of January each year and the winner will take home a new Kindle Fire!

Other things to know:

This self-paced program ends each year on December 31 but sign-up is available anytime throughout the year.

If you read two books a week, you’re on track to meet your goal early, depending on when you begin.

Joining our book clubs, “Variety Book Group” and “Between the Covers Book Group”, is a great way to add extra titles to your goal!

You may log titles concurrently if you are participating in other Library reading programs such as Hot Reads for Cold Nights or the Summer Reading Program.
